This is absolutely my favorite Hop Along, the path the songs take is fucking breathtaking.
But Freshman Year sounds nothing like the two HA’s before this. It’s way more idiosyncratic and folky than the punk sort of thing, not really comparable to what came right after. It’s so charming and exuberant, please have a go at it

Not Abel’s my favorite here (and by extension fav Hop Along), the melancholy first two thirds into the keening dissonant strings that part for that absolutely killer fucking groove that brings everything home for the Giving the middle finger to the Kodak lens bit
