"I'm not lol. It's good for Trivium's standards but will never stand up to the competing albums this year"
This sums it up so hard.

I’m sure some of us fanboys think this is one of the best releases of the year, but we know there’s no hope on Sputnik lol

I used to be a fanboy, but this doesn't get me as much as I'd liked it to do.

Why the fuck is this so good? I had nearly written Trivium off completely after how painfully average their last couple albums were, but this is so damn good. Shogun is still my favorite from them, but this comes very very close. Bravo Trivium, didn't think you guys had it in you. Wretchedness Inside kicks my fucking ass. Love it.

I generally hate this band....but this record isn't bad so far (a few songs in).

This was a pleasant surprise, i’d only heard the singles from vengance falls and silence in the snow but i thought they were boring as hell so never bothered with them but this hooked me straight away.

Yeah I never thought I'd enjoy a Trivium record, but I'll prob give this one another spin.

This album is like eating at a Golden corral. It has a little bit of everything, none of it is top notch, but you can't help but be satisfied every time you go. Well done fellas.

"This album is like eating at a Golden corral."
and then you get terrible diarrhea after you consume their products and vow never to do that again? yeah, i'll agree with that.

You might tell yourself that after eating at Taco Bell or any other place that gives you good times on the toilet, but chances are you'll be coming back.

I'm with these food analogies. For me, this album is exactly how I feel about McDonalds: Very cheap and low quality product, but presented in a very appetizing way and they DO tend to have everything on the menu that I enjoy no matter how good it is. I just know that the more that I choose to indulge in their product, the lower quality I will become content with..and that's why I don't listen to this album more.
This is coming from a guy that got album artwork from The Crusade as a half sleeve tattoo. My loyalties remain, but I am well aware of where Trivium WAS versus where they are now.
|
| |
The Crusade artwork is pretty dope though, not gonna lie. And that album has grown on me hard this year.

Oh yeah. I got started on Trivium when they began releasing promo singles for Ascendancy, so Crusade was the first full length that I walked into fresh, if that makes sense. So I listened the ever-living shit out of that album and have been finding new things to enjoy about it upon revisitation to this day! I think it's a severely underrated modern thrash metal album.
Anyone who goes into it expecting thrash and not Ascendancy/Shogun style can really grow to appreciate it a helluva lot more than most people seem to.
|
| |
Yeah man, I didn't listen to it after almost 10 years of hatred and just revisited it a few months ago. Thought it was great.

Yeah The Crusade is seriously underappreciated. It definitely doesn't deserve a sub-3 average, but it just goes to show how staff reviewers can severely influence ratings on this site.

If I may quote an unknown death metal band:
Behold the staff
And the power they hold!
