True, I just think it's not even up to discussion haha

Haken are a bit overrated imo. There is better modern prog out there

I would agree, I think they are a solid band and make good music, but calling them 'the saviours of prog' or something like that is way too much

"Leprous took prog into new directions, while Haken simply did their best with what was already there. No contest."
This so much. Let's look at most popular "new prog" bands out there right now. I see four of them: BTBAM, Haken, Caligula's Horse and Leprous. Haken is playing new and more focused Dream Theater, Caligula's Horse is old prog remastered, BTBAM connected few genres like metalcore with prog. Leprous on the other hand... How do you compare them to what was before?
Not to say other bands aren't great, but Leprous are The Greats

I don't think Haken and CH are much different. They are capitalising on the prog that predeeds them, adding modern flavour and actually writing compelling albums. BTBAM have been innovative, maybe on Alaska and Colours, but after the Great Misdirect they also found themselves on a plateau, not trying anything new, just perfecting their sound (that's not to say they haven't been creating amazing music).
Leprous began as an Opeth/PoS ripoff, but as soon as their second album came out, they were Leprous.

and who knows what they are up to in their next release!

Leprous and Caligula's Horse are my faves. One is more of an explorer, and the latter is more of a restorer. Both necessary.

No matter how many times I try, just can't get into this. Not meant to be I guess

I hope one day it clicks Omair, because it's seriously a great album, albeit a little safer than what came before and after.

Yeah this is great, took a few listens for it to click for me as well

It bores me honestly (uh oh, angry CosmicPie incoming), but its Leprous so I keep trying it again and again. Maybe some time in this decade

This and Bilateral are perfect albums in their own special way. I hope one day you'll see the light.

Sadly I personally don't think they'll release an album you'd love half as much as bilateral, Omair. They went too far away from the kind of music you love and while it's fine on its own, nothing seems to get them back to something you'd truly like.
It's (more than) solid but it's not for you and it's fine.

I'm very curious what they'll do on next record, I don't see them going more poppy than on Pitfalls. Maybe more classical / electronic? not sure

A really big upside to them going in the poppy direction that they did is that now I have no idea what to expect. Regardless of how one feels about Pitfalls, Leprous made a very bold move with that album.
I don't wanna get my hopes too high on the slim chance that they stick with that direction, but I'm still a bit excited as to what they'll do next seeing as how they've totally violated expectations already.

I've read/watched quite a few interviews with Einar and he does seem to really like pop and even points out how many people from metal community hate it for no reason so I won't be really surprised if they go even more pop. If they keep all instruments in and stay on same level as pitfalls, I don't even mind it

Same here. If the Massive Attack cover was any indication, maybe they turn to heavy electronics with metal rhythmic patterns and OH MY GOD, when's the new album coming out??

They seem to write/record new stuff atm. Since there aren‘t any live shows maybe some new material comes around earlier than usual but I‘m not holding my breath

Well it's a mystery. They've been in the studio for like a week already so it doesn't look like a single. I really woudn't mind new album coming out December!

Yea, they're a fun band to follow. Pitfalls is not what I was looking for, but it's still a great piece of music.
