The bands sound nothing alike and thus shouldn't be compared

but how can we validate our desperately fragile egos without comparing new bands to older bands in order to complement our extremely narrow views of the world?

Because without comparison that view becomes even narrower

Two big name indie rock releases come out within a fortnight of each other and we're talking on what is effectively a music criticism/Rating comparison website

Who would have predicted such events?

Well since you asked.

I hate the dilution, the stymied bland bullshit of the post 90s rock bands who clamour for fame with no value, attention with no point, existence provided not earned.

It comes from the repeated formulaic processed bleatings of a billion wannabes who churn out insipid packaged rubbish that unquestioning youth lap up because they've been subjugated up to the eyeballs with shit and they want more of it, day in day out. Shit has become commodity, a necessity labelled as 'fun' tagged as 'post, alt, ....core, or ...mo' and listened to by the mindless.

There's no art, no craft, no release. Just shit. Watched, listened to and absorbed while the grabbing hands of the multitude of the mindless demand more because it offers nothing and they realise they have nothing, feel nothing, want everything but know nothing.

Lit Me Up, Out of Mana, and 451 are really the only songs that blew me away. It's an okay record, but I don't think it really touches any of their other stuff.

Zak

Don't know about you but i tend to live my life as free as possible from stress borne from what other people like and whether that should make me angry or not. It's doesn't gain me anything except self satisfaction and it's just a great way to add stress to your life where there was none before. If it helps you out cool, but I highly doubt it does?

Why not just be cool with other people liking stuff. Disagree/discuss/whatever but when it pisses you off and stresses you out you've let it get too far and it's negatively affecting you?

Everything Zak just said is sheer opinion, there's nothing factual in his argument. (He's entitled to that to be fair, as my opinion is merely the optimist reflection).

And collectivefacade dude, don't believe we've conversed much if at all, but everyone knows I make no attempt to hide my bias here. I don't think I present my arguments in as gushing of a fashion as I used to, but I stake no claim to my overview of this album as being objective fact.

Music is about passion and there's nothing wrong with riding the waves of euphoria that come with 8 years of waiting for your favorite band to release an album. I'd argue it's far more obnoxious to continually plaster the same redundant contrarian argument every two and a half pages of coments just to preserve a fake image on a music website. Alas, everyone is entitled to be a doof just as they are to be deliriously hyperbolic like me.

I mean seriously though it's so "internet" to just shove in your face how much you hate something though over and over again it's kinda funny to keep seeing.

I can't tell if Zak is taking the piss or being serious anymore tbh. But seriously if all you do on Sput is piss in other people's fires, then just leave the site and do some productive with your life.
