Claims of revolutionism aside, it is very nice to hear Jesse Lacey sing again.

i wasn't super super hyped for the new brand new album and although i'm not on cloud 9 with this yet i'm getting that same enjoyable vibe i had initially with their other albums that always precedes me getting obsessed

lol at regretting giving a good album a hyperbolic score on a music website...

It's natural to be supremely excited out of hype and to want to express that by giving this the highest rating possible. Like I said before I expect this to land around a 4.2, which still puts it comfortably in second place behind TDAG. For those wondering why we're so excited and thinking you're not hearing the same thing, I'd say it's largely a community thing for Brand New diehards. They have a huge cult following who think they can do no wrong (myself included). Imagine if Tool released a record out of the clear blue tomorrow; it's a similar effect. With all that said, this goes way beyond a hype machine; it may not have deserved the first day 4.9 avg across 100 ratings or whatever but it's genuinely one of the best things an already great band has achieved, and that's fairly objective.

I doubt anyone would regret 5'ing this since they can change their rating/opinion at any time

Dir, they shipped out CD versions to the 500 people who pre-ordered the vinyl. Someone on facebook started live-streaming it and leaks followed. By the end of the day they were selling it on their website.

You can read more about it in the news section. Reading through the comments in retrospect, it's pretty awesome how they did it and I'm glad I was at home watching the whole thing unfold.

yeah man the funny thing is I was scrambling like no one's business to get a quality leak and by the time I had one and got halfway through, they dropped it on their website and I felt like a douchebag. oh well.

"Death needs to come for us eventually; it’s the only thing that will keep us all sane. The same concept goes for Brand New. Not that they’re the same thing; clearly even as high-caliber of a band like Brand New is, they are no more than humans just like us. "
