I'm still bumped by his stand on the Israel - Palestine subject. He seems to ignore the matter on purpose and that's really bothering me..

SW has no obligation or reason to talk about that. Why do musicians need to be involved in current affairs and politics? Everyone usually groans when it happens anyways.

the sad thing is that he already has spoken his mind. he seems not to care. I don't say everyone needs to say sth about that, but he is really involved with Israel, so I'd prefer if he was more open.

It surprises me what you say, Talons, considering that his latest output was trying to comment on politics and ''serious matters'' and you seem to love it. I believe that art and politics are not different worlds. If SW wants to comment on politics, he can't avoid Israel's appartheid forever, that's all I'm saying.

Musicians should never involve themselves in politics, it’s not their place to do so. You get involved and you’re a Bono.

there's ways and ways to get involved. There's Bono and there's Patty Smith. The bad thing with Bono isn't that he's a musician, is that he's an obnoxious prick

Fuck ‘em. What musicians represent us? This bloke? Fucking Ed Sheeran? Fuck that shit, I’ll live by their music not their opinions.

Yes, that's what I'm trying to believe. But I still don't know, I can't differentiate between the art and the artist. For instance, I can't stand black metal when they're talking about white power and shit. I admire SW and for the most part I agree with his standpoints. That's what bothers me when he pretends nothing's wrong.

yeah, he said nothing bad about Palestine. It was a mere example about the relation between the artist and his creation. What I'm saying is that Steven Wilson has said that he doesn't understand the fuss about Israel and I wonder, what doesn't he understand? The apparent imbalance in power between Israel and Palestine? The status of appartheid in the region? The inhuman conditions in prisons where Palestinians are kept? He's tried to shift the discussion into religion (claiming that Israel isn't the religious state everyone says it is), but that's not a religious matter.
