Still love Put Your Money On Me
But yeah this is by far their worst and I wouldn't be surprised if it takes them 5+ years to reflekt (haha, haha) and come back with some new ideas in 2022 or later.

They've got a two-album deal with Columbia records, they'll be back. If only as an obligation to their major label overlords.

As long as we're admitting embarrassing things about ourselves, I actually like half of the songs on this. Truly my greatest shame.
Two of them are the sub-2-minute songs though.

I think a 2.4 is juuuuuust right.
This has been a modern retelling of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

This review is painfully verbose. So difficult to get through.

The vapid and shallow nature of this album coupled with the repetitive nature of the longer songs and lack of interesting developments is especially obnoxious when tracks flow into each other and there’s this facade of a concept album, at least instrumentally, like with the bookends for example. Track 8 onwards is a little better, but Put Your Money On Me is undermined by how samey it is in the second half.

Yes.

Creature Comfort and Chemistry are the band’s two worst songs imo. Everything else here is varying degrees of blah and decent, with the second half being more consistent, especially starting with track 8.

Between this and Muse's 2nd Law, I don't know but I'm having an absolute blast with these lambasted records. I guess I've grown to not care an iota for critical consensus. I love this pretty much front to back.
