yeah, the 3 in between Roots Remain and Andromeda are quite good too but they kinda pale in comparison. In a weird way, it feels like the album doesn't really start until "Precious Stones".

I agree with that. the opening duo is pretty tame. starting with something more energetic would have been better.

Is not a bad album but not a good one either, Remission and Leviathan are still way above this or the 2 last. I can't really dig it

Roots Remain is amazing. Steambreather is pretty awesome too, but the sped up and catchy chorus kinda kills the momentum of the song.

The percussion here is brilliant... So many nuances which contribute to the overall listening experience.

This was pretty great. As someone who actually quite enjoyed OMRTS, this is basically that album, but more refined. It also implements enough of their older style to keep it from sounding too derivative. It doesn't touch Leviathan or Remissions, but it is a damn enjoyable metal record. My favorite tracks so far are: Steambreather, Andromeda, and Scorpion Breath.

Unlike their last two it doesn't have any notable flat spots, and that's what makes it a better overall experience. There's no point where I feel like skipping tracks or moving to something else.

Not a great review to be honest. Overly repetitive use of certain adjectives makes it feel like a 3 para review has been stretched to 6.
