Act I and II are pretty different from Act V, different enough to say that you may be split opinion on the acts if you ever choose to listen to them

As far as I'm concerned act 2 is pretty much a perfect record. Storm if you're a receiving end of sirens fan like me you'll find a lot to love in act 2. Its the most post-hardcore influenced by far

There really wasn't a lot of TREOS influence in the Acts outside of II and, now, V. Love when it pops up. I'd probably like II way more if some of the slower stuff in the back half got trimmed down

"First half of Act 2 blows just about anything out of the water tho"
*Second half of Act 2" FTFY. Come on dude, Red Hands, Black Sandy Beaches, Dear Ms. Leading, Where the Road Parts, Vital Vessel Vindicates. All 5/5 tracks.
|

Where the Road Parts ain't on that level, dude. The first half is more consistent, even though those other tracks are all on the same level imo.

Actually Dear Ms. Leading through Vital Vessel Vindicates (one of TDH's best songs imo) is a phenomenal stretch. I really could've done without Evicted, Blood of the Rose (I like it sometimes), Red Hands and BSB. Super meh to me, really different from the rest of the album stylistically

^disagree about Black Sandy Beaches, but I'd agree those are other 3 are some of the weakest on there
Evicted might be one of my least favorite TDH songs total

Yeah, that's where I just feel the exact opposite. Up until Smiling Swine is all 5/5 tracks, and then it loses me - though I really love Vital Vessels Vindicate.
The lack of consistency throws me off as the first half is quite different from the second half stylistically.

prolly cos the second half was written about four years before all the rest but what do I know

I know I'm in the minority with Red Hands being weak. It's corny and feels out of place, plus it doesn't contribute much to the story except for making Hunter indecisive and pretty whiny. jmo

"Red Hands" is awesome.

"plus it doesn't contribute much to the story except for making Hunter indecisive and pretty whiny"
I swear it's almost the most important part of the story - it's when the shit hits the fan as to Ms. Leading's real nature and he goes through intense whiny disillusion and remains a lost soul for pretty much ever, right?

True, Red Hands is basically when his innocent little bubble bursts and from that point on his view on the world and his feeling of self-worth started to change. It was the beginning of a snowball effect, so to speak.

I feel like Act II's production job most significantly weakened Red Hands.

But this and act 4 are definitely all over the place; moreso than 2, imo

Act IV is best tbh
