Nah, knowing the stuff Boney generally digs I can't even remotely blame him for slagging off "No One Knows" and "Go with the Flow." I do think there's a genuine chance he'd dig "Mosquito Song," though.

EDIT: 3 or 4 comments went live while I was writing this in response to artiswar, rip

I mean the songs weren't technically awful, they just didn't really appeal to me but if I gave it an honest try I might grow to dig it a bit.

Or I could just listen to the Drive-By Truckers instead.

I guess it was less that, and more that Boney admitted to being a contrarian while I was literally in the middle of defending him lol

Your defense was well founded, I was probably just exaggerating my distaste a bit.

I do hope you give "Mosquito Song" a whirl - it's completely different to anything else on this album, and in a way that is likely more suited to your tastes.

The vocals may still prove a problem - in fact with better vox I might've liked Go With the Flow or No One Knows

didn't care much for this when I first heard it either. give it a few more listens all the way through (preferably while driving).

You should check out You Can't Quit Me Baby or Better Living Through Chemistry from earlier records. A lot of their stuff is actually not tongue in cheek

Truckfighters' Gravity X tops both this and Sky Valley imo

Great album but fuck no.

Boney, how does the mutli-vocalist approach on this tickle you? Lots of variety at hand, I'd say. Littel something for everyone

Alright, I gave the songs people recommended a listen.

Try In the Fade

Decent song, Lanegan is definitely a more appealing vocalist. Still, the track felt a bit plain.
Boney try 'Space Cadet' and 'Catamaran'

Well that first one is basically a folk song, vocals still weren't very good. I got bored and stopped about 2/3. Second one...meh

Ok you win. That song is undeniably pretty amazing! The first couple minutes were ok but that instrumental section was awesome! Do they have anything else like that?

unfortunately not, Boney.. it was a singular moment for them.. there are acoustic performances of their songs floating around youtube, some of which are pretty damn great.. nothing as lush and well-orchestrated as mosquito song though,..

Cause it's more melodic, fancier arrangements, more variety, you'd just dig it way more

Far more emotionally driven and musically subtle in my opinion
