Fuck, this year has been something of a disappointment; I'm not having a go at this specifically, but I
haven't been really blown away by anything recent :[

Pretty sure that the majority of users on this site are under the age of 25 anyway. Just a hunch.

I can definitely note that they're adept at their craft - but after quite a few listens it still doesn't live up to the amount of cum people are thrashing themselves to deposit on it. It's got it's dynamics I can give it that for sure but it's so obviously glued together that it comes off really stilted and contrived. Painters of the Tempest II is several different songs crammed together with only the title connecting it (that and Tim Charles whining about hearing the children dreaming, thanks Geldof 2014).

Their drummer is great but his talents are mired in these art-wank sections that cringingly reafirm why I fucking hate Dream Theater. It's like they spent so much time trying to arrange this multi-layered introspective horse shit that they only briefly allowed their rhythm section off the chain to really go to work. Pyrrhic is a good example of this, it starts off slaying and I almost like it but then old André Rieu comes along and starts fiddling and crooning over it with his shit voice and it's ruined. I agree it's very BTBAM but with no real ferocity or heart.

Never understand why people care enough to mention in their praise/criticism of a band/album that other people hold the opposite opinion.

This band/album rules, fuck the haters!

This band/album sucks despite the gallons of jizz sprayed on it by its fans/[insert not-so witty quip here]!
