My favorite Aphex Twin album so far

Coming to the end of my Aphex journey. This sounds reflective and reminiscent of some of his older stuff but still something new entirely.

It's wild getting to that point in your musical life where Ambient Works I is no longer your favorite Aphex Twin album.
Syro & Drukqs gotta be his top albums

Drukqs is top-shelf for sure, but I always thought Syro was overrated. Maybe I just didn’t pay close attention? I like the EPs that followed more, but will check this again.

If anything Syro is underrated it's by far his best effort

Drukqs is my fave, has been for a good while
I’d take this over any of his ambient stuff tho

As much as I like this I couldn’t ever take it over his first two. Would take it over ICBYD and RDJ however

ICBYD and RDJ just don't get as much play for me as any of his other LPs

think I prefer RDJ...but it might just be that I've played RDJ a lot more then this over the years

Let me rephrase: what should I listen to that isn’t Aphex Twin that sounds kinda like this vibe because it like this vibe and want more of this vibe?
|
| |
unfortunately there’s nothing out there that really sounds like Aphex. his work is absolutely singular and you’ll search high and low and not find anything that really tugs at the same strings.
however if you haven’t heard The Tuss yet, get on it asap. it’s Richard but some of his best breakbeat material.

I’d say “Hard Normal Daddy” or the “Big Loada” EP by Squarepusher is worth giving a try.

should’ve named it ‘Hard Normal Easy’
but yeah maybe (2)

Or Wagon Christ for that matter. Same guy, but leans more towards cliqhop, while Vibert has more acid flowing.
