Metal has been pretty amazing this year Jamie idk what you're talking about bud lol.
The fact that I've only heard like one metal album I really like this year isn't really a reflection on the year as such, it's just that I hardly listen to any modern metal. Not for any silly elitist reasons or anything, just simply because when it comes to current music, metal just doesn't interest me that much compared to other genres.
