Honestly, the 'documentary' thing from this was probably the most pretentious thing I've ever watched. So I can see why that would reflect badly on the band to some. Album rules though.

Yeah man I love those making of vids, I was pumped to watch it too. They kind adapted the same approach they used for the music video (which was pretty great), but it didn't translate well when it was just a continuous cycle of really slow (terribly pretentious) speeches over 'artistic' shots of nearly random scenes.
