@Seven: It's short af, clocking in at like a little bit over half an hour. You should give it a shot.
@Gonzo: Really?? Nah, that album has bangers. White People, New Wave, Animal, Ocean, Piss & Vinagre, etc.

Do you like Searching, though? My fav by them. The title track on that thing is a beast. Gender dysphoria in a fucking nutshell.

Agreeing with Gonzo. New Wave was trash and a total sell out move, in my opinion.

White Crosses felt more like them selling out, imo. I love White Crosses too.

What do trans people think of this? Godsend, ingratiating?

I like it, I know some that hate Laura though and think she isn't actually trans because she is a late transitioner, and say that real trans people would have committed suicide by 30 from dysphoria
|
| |
thats pretty short-sighted jesus. what a way to diminish the nuances and complications coming to terms with being gender-queer in a divided world. and to diminish the humanity of dysphoria by removing the relevance of individuality from how people deal with it. thats just generally kind of fucked up to me. there should be much better things for the gender-queer community to put their disdain towards than people that identify as a part of their community. turn a community against themselves and they don't pose as much of a threat to everyone elses bigoted state of mind though i guess.

the LGBT "community" in general just sucks. it doesn't feel like a community. there shouldn't be pity parties and peer pressure everywhere. I want to fully transition by 30 (that gives me about five years) but we'll see.
I'll give this a listen at some point.
|
| |
i think that depends where you go though. where i used to live, victoria, the LGBT community was very tight nit and lovely and accepting of all. but victoria is a small and very progressive city.

I am kind of curious to know if Laura's transitions was a key factor in 2 of the 4 band members quitting. I imagine that was hard to swallow.

they are from Florida, wouldn't be surprised if some of the members were more conservative in their viewpoint

tbh i never cared about this band whatsoever until this album after Laura transitioned. It just made me figure this could be a powerful album so I gave it a shot and it really touched me even if the music itself usually wouldn't be my cup of tea at all.

Are you trans? Or just a member of the community?

@Parallels: lol wtf?
I came out at 17 and I still haven't been able to start hormones. (Starting this summer, hopefully.) It's all a matter of having a good source of support and acceptance if you can't really transition from early on in life. My friends are my support, family's been very blah about it from the start. Dysphoria's very bad but, like everything in life, possible to outbeat. As for me, I vomit my dysphoric feelings and depression on a canvas with paint, or on paper with charcoal or in song through lyrics.
Laura's detailed thoroughly how hard it's been for her. She's got lyrics about gender dysphoria all the way back since Searching For A Former Clarity. People who say she's not really trans can go choke on my friend's future cock for all I care.

I can't imagine how you guys live with it. I can't imagine feeling like I don't belong in my own body. Fuck.
FUCK.

neither! just.... a fan of strong and creative people who stay true to their identity in the face of oppression of any kind.
