It doesn't have any incredible elements like Tom Sawyer's drumming brake, Witch Hunt's synth, Limelight's catchiness, YYZ's instrumentation as a whole, etc, etc

It took a long while to really really click because I too thought that as an epic it needed more meat but I think it has plenty of moments. Like the sheer cheerfulness of Geddy's vocals or the first time you hear the stonking riffs at ~2:40

Most albums would be so much better if more bands just did what Rush did in the early '80s and focused on putting out 35-40 minutes of incredible music rather than 50-60 minutes of ho-hum music.

I think most people simply want more songs. I agree hard with your sentiment but that's because I tend to consume full albums and I love to observe them as a unique body of music, watching a movie and listening to an album aren't so different in my mind. So yeah give me 40 minutes of killer stuff and I'm set
