I live in the suburbs so I don't go into the actual city much but yeah it's pretty cool. Probably should've spent more time exploring it and enjoying it, but honestly I think where I should end up later this year will be even better.

Problem is the tourists only go to see the big landmarks, when it's got so much more to offer if you just go round the streets and explore.

Likewise, see you in France?

A few years ago I might've said yes but honestly France isn't a great place to move to right now. Society's disillusioned, economy's slipping into a complete mess. I'm actually going to live there for a year during my uni course but I'm not sure I'd move there permanently as it is now. Otherwise Brazil, Chile, Australia or Quebec interest me. If things get better I might move to France or Italy, but even then they're a bit too close to home to make me feel like I'm really going somewhere new. There're too many options. Even places like Mozambique intrigue me, although maybe only in the context of a lengthened trip. My dream would be to have a job where I'm stationed in different places around the world for a few years at a time. No idea if it'll ever happen.

I know what you mean. Still, it might pick up within the next decade. Quebec is also of interest to me. I get you though, nothing worse than sitting idle yet the majority of us have to persevere. Trying to get some funds together and go travelling next summer, hitting all the hostels in major French cities and staying for a little bit with a girl I know too.

Road trip across the US, travelling across central and eastern Africa, going to Borneo, going all over South America. I'd love to be able to do some of that.

Borneo? You sound like my flatmate. He was meant to be doing voluntary work there this summer, as he did in Ecuador in 2011, yet the company meandered and deliberated and there was a great deal of confusion and finally it transpired that they weren't able to field the expedition until January through February next year, which meant that he would miss the post-xmas uni restart. He was gutted.

I went to Ecuador for a month last year. Amazing country. I've also been interested in South America but that expedition truly nailed it into me. But yeah Borneo looks brilliant. It's a weird place cos it's split between 3 countries, and it's pretty unique. Vietnam is meant to be amazing as well.
