I second fuckthatnoise's reactions to each of those, and the youtube video (either version) of Burn a Miracle made it cheesier and somehow worse

Say Anything was fine but it's not the type that stands the test of time so ehh

I'll just put 'Admit It!!!' on repeat and be happy

I'm going about this the wrong way. I don't want to get into a "who's the biggest fan", "what's their best album" debate, and I apologize for being confrontational thus far, but for me, with all that is happening in my life, with this record it just feels like with every lyric Max could be pulling inspiration, or singing directly about my life. This record has been a very powerful, moving, emotional record for me to get into for whatever reason right now in my life. Maybe, and perhaps not anyone else's, but just every note sung, played on guitar, bass, or every drum chop played man it is just all hitting very close to home for me. This has been a much more personal record for me than any of their past ones have been. And if none of those things ring true for anyone else that's totally fine. I'm just speaking for myself right now.

i don't even like this band lol. i've only heard Real Boy, which is a 3. (3.5 at best, maybe.) general impression that i got from it was that it reminded me of Weezer's first 2 albums (which i also think are incredibly overrated), only with much better lyricism and infinitely more annoying vocals. only reason i looked up songs from this was because the reaction on here that it got had me curious.

just wait until you hear So Good

oh god, that name alone has me wondering just how bad it could be... not pausing Spiritualized for this garbage though, so maybe later.

Hey elry2k that's totally cool if it connects with you, regardless of what everyone's saying about it. So far I'm liking ...Is A Real Boy the best but so far the only song that I really love and will remember from what I've heard is 'Admit It...' - others prefer 'Alive with the Glory of Love' or like it almost equally, it doesn't ring any bells with me or whatever.

Objectively Say Anything fans have been complaining about this album since it's less raw, more produced/polished, tries to rehash what they did well before without as much energy ('Admit it again' being the prime example), and just doesn't hit the climaxes lyrically or musically that their other albums have. Perhaps that last part is a more subjective statement, but the good moments in a song (the first part of Stephen Hawking for me) tended to get diluted by the rest of the song. I think Chan laid out the weaknesses as he saw them in his review very well if you want to read it over again.

Feel free to argue with these points, or say how exactly this connects with you, but don't feel that everyone has to agree with you for you to enjoy the album.

I'm pretty sure I just stated exactly that. That it's cool if no one feels the same. I. Don't. Care.

OK, I like debating over albums, but if you want to just state your opinion and nothing else that's fine.

It's just the multiple comments reasserting your opinion that made it seem like you did want to defend an argument, or Did. Care. But I was wrong so nvm

I did those things. Yes. You are right. Then within my last lengthy post I said I was going about things the wrong way. I apologized for being confrontational, and said I was only speaking for myself, and that if no one else felt the same. Then fine.

God, don't complain about people being douches towards you because you like this album, and then proceed to be a douche back, and not even a clever one

Say Anything's fanbase has a pretty bad reputation these days for reasons like these, ya know

I didn't say anyone was a douche. I said that I called this album being different and Sputnik hating on it because it was

different. I did say that someone's opinion didn't matter, I also apologized for then being confrontational because it's not about

individual differences but it is about how, or how not, and if, or if not the music impacts you, and nothing else. And I also said

it's fine to have a different opinion about this album, and i still say that. There isnt anything wrong with a different opinion, and

who really cares. Really?! I apologize again for being a jackass earlier, and I state again it's only and all about the music. And

how it either does or doesn't impact you. Nothing else. Nothing more, nothing less. Now can't we all be friends. You don't

have to like this album, or have the same opinion about it as I do it's fine. It's all good.

Like the fact that the flag steals its colors from the American flag (not to mention the Confederate flag!)

MAX BEMIS IS SECRETLY PRO-CONFEDERACY!

DON'T LET YOUR CHILDREN NEAR THIS ALBUM, LEST YOU ALIGN YOURSELF WITH ROBERT E. LEE AND HIS ATTEMPTS TO TAKE DOWN THE UNION!

ITS A RICH MAN'S WAR AND A POOR MAN'S FIGHT, SO WE HAVE TO TAKE BACK POWER FROM MAX BEMIS AND ALL THOSE RICH MEN LIKE HIM!

TAKE BACK THE COUNTRY, BECAUSE I CAN'T LIVE WITH THIS OPPRESSION!

I love the little synth touches in the chorus of "So Good". They tickle me.
