“Prosthetics still one of their absolute best songs”
my man

The energy and experimentalism on this album still blow my mind

Prosthetics and Diluted are absolute classics. And unpopular opinion, but I love the chorus on Me Inside. I miss when Corey could deliver a good melodic hook without turning the song into pure butt rock

Hard agree, always loved Me Inside's chorus, choruses in general are on point here

I actually really like the newest Slipknot album, but yo same

Corey's cleans these days just sound corny. Sure, he's objectively a good singer, but he's corny as hell.

True
That combined with all of his talk about the "metal family" during live shows, as well as Clown going off about how artistically advanced they are, yeah they're super cringe but I still love them

Yeah same I love them as a band, but I just find them extremely cringey these days. I mean, nu metal was always cringey to a point, but Corey himself has taken it to the extreme

i saw them live a couple of months ago and did they put on a hell of a show? absolutely. they arguably sound better live now than they did in their earlier days. but you can tell how age has effected their performance. i remember watching stuff like disasterpieces and they were rabid on stage, and that felt so genuine. now, you can tell it's more of an act. which y'know, happens wither (older) age and being a less angry more financially secure person. but it makes makes me wish they would just hang up their masks and leave the game instead of continuing to release subpar material. i know a lot of people liked we are not your kind and even though i didn't it would've been a great place for them to stop. everything from the new records is terrible so far.

For me, it was a mixed bag. It had the absolute best they've ever produced (Solway Firth), but then also some utter trash

WANYK is super inconsistent agreed

Like I said above, it has definitely my favourite Slipknot song alongside a couple of other bangers, but you have certain songs that just massively weigh it down. I don't understand how Vol 3 got so much criticism for experimentation (which is a far better album overall), but WANYK got almost universal praise at launch

There is some great material here but there some songs that just don't do much for me. I do think some should of been cut and put on the deluxe release instead. Especially in place of Purity. That track is a banger and deserves to be on the album. (I know it was cut for legal reasons btw, just saying I wished it was on the actual album.)

Purity was restored to the album for the anniversary release though...
I think the second half falls off a little bit, Tattered And Torn is also pretty bad, but its still a really fun album. Maybe nostalgia goggles blind me a little on it though
