"...and, um, he has a beard."

lol

Lyrics don't matter that much to me, but when they're this bad it's hard not to notice them. It takes this album down .5 at least

There are literally only 2-3 instances at the very most where the lyrics are just nonsensical and can be categorized as bad. On the rest of the album they work tremendously.

Kessler is Jewish. Since 2006, he resides in a loft in the Lower East Side, and is the only band member who is a pescetarian (formerly having been a vegetarian) and does not smoke. He also is fluent in French, having lived in Europe - growing up in a village outside of Paris - until the age of 11. Kessler is co-owner of the Brooklyn restaurant Bergen Hill, and is an investor in numerous New York City area bars.”

If "...and, um, he has a beard." makes you like this album less rather than more I don't know what to tell you.

this has an indescribable charm to it. it helps that it makes me feel nostalgic af but honestly it's just jam packed with ear worm melodies and an all around beautiful release

You tell me I'm not a hipster who ironically likes bad lyrics. Unless you think that's a good lyric and then I don't know what to tell you.

It's not about ironically liking it, it's a frenetic rock song with weird frantic lyrics that are supposed to sound spontaneous. I think they fit the vibe of the song and also add humour to an album that's generally gloomy.

Are these guys worth listening to other than this (obviously considered their best) album?

Cool, gonna give this a whirl. If I love it enough, I’ll probably at least try their sophomore album.
