And every Agalloch album has had a large change in it's sound and direction and we have always loved them. So you can't sum this one up to being the first time they have altered their sound. And there are obviously post rock influenced sections.

My rating is kind of a floater, some days I think I like it quite a bit, some days I don't. Damn Agalloch.

Oh. My. God.... you cannot use 'post-rock' and 'agalloch' in the same sentence, there literally isn't a shred of post-rock here...

Eh maybe not as much on this one, but on The Mantle and Ashes there's plenty.

Your kidding right? They sight GY!BE as one of their influences and have admitted to using similar styles in their music. And I use the term on this album because the slow buildups and rambling like the first and last song, and second half of Nidstang are pretty close to post rock.

are you fucking kidding me? take it from an avid post-rock listener, this album has post-rock all over it. did you decide to ignore the last track? that track could be mistaken for a fucking godspeed track.
the song structures are also very, VERY post-rock influenced

Oh yeah, they cited that GY!BE influenced THIS album? Pretty sure you're referring to The Mantle. They've cited spiritual healing as influence for this.

I really don't need to argue this anymore, there has always been a PR influence in their music, this album included.

godspeed are one of their influences overall, period. now shush. also I looked at your last.fm and I couldn't find like, any post-rock at all. really, I don't think you know what you're talking about.
also you obviously decided to skip over black lake nidstang and to drown since those tracks are pretty much completely slathered in post-rock

Also The Grey had a massive post-rock influence.

I pretty much only listened to post-rock for a year and I'd be willing to wager my life that I know more than you do and ever will know about it. Not my fault that you perceive things superficially, don't feel bad though! Know that you're not alone. Btw, name-dropping 'post-rock' is really stupid when talking about a band like Agalloch, especially when looking at the big picture.

I think we all agree (except for Gryo) that they've always been post-rock influenced.
