anyway, lyrics are less important than the musical content ultimately. i can ignore shitty lyrics if the music is great, but i can't do it the other way around, hence why i still enjoy this despite awful lyrics.

"Was that intended at me?"
Yes, it was.
"1) I don't really care about your opinions on Taylor Swift enough to warrant such a nasty response. Calm your ass dude. That's not respectful"
lol, really? Not respectful? And assuming people have actual psychological sicknesses by analyzing them over the internet is respectful? Respect is a two way road borth parties have to be in favor of, I can't see that here.
"2) lol at the notion of me not trying to sound like a kid, as if I really give a fuck enough to "Try" not to sound like a kid to impress you"
Read again, I never said you were trying to impress me. Granted, I probably should've phrased that differently. There might not have been intent or awareness but it came off like that. (here we probably go again with the irony of #1 aka miscommunication)
"3) Wrong Freudian analysis? I come from the breed of teenagers too cool to like Taylor Swift. A lot of people who hate her shit do so because it's girly (obviously not true on Sputnik because we actually think music through) or whatever, or because they haven't given her music a chance and so haven't heard jams like "Enchanted" and "Haunted" which are leagues better than her big singles."
So you just assume that's the case with everybody? There aren't any people who can simply genuinely not enjoy her music and those who don't may have psychological issues? I gave it a chance, I didn't like it.
Anything else is just fun to keep the conversation alive and from straying singing praise in unison.

"Btw I didn't mean to imply that everyone who dislikes Taylor Swift does so out of a misplaced sense of machismo, but rather that a lot do. It's easier to speak in generalizations and generalizations make for stronger arguments though. Stronger pathos anyways, even if it hurts the logos naturally"

Also, generalizations don't necessarily make for stronger arguments. It might be a logical assumption but for someone who is accustomed to a scientific way of working the meat is in the details, not the general stuff.
This might be the case for seeing how things function or researching general things but not things that vary a lot.
Edit: Yes, I was a bit slow writing that. (that post didn't exist at that time) So that issue is solved. And I don't like her because it's 'girly' - I couldn't give less of a fuck (I also listen to Laura Marling, Aborea, Parades, Ben Howard, Jenny Hval other indie and shit people could view as 'girly')
I simply don't like her voice (major downer) and I think her music is monotonous. I don't like monotonous music, the end.

Of course, but they're easier to make (fewer words) and make statements sound more powerful.
"Speak Now always has Taylor singing at her best" just sounds more powerful than "Speak Now always sees Taylor singing her best except for these few exceptions."

Probably true for a lot of people but it can depend on who you're talking to. Some people would want to know about these exceptions. (impurities making things more genuine or as a contrast or whatever)
@andcas: fucking lol.
