Yea, the vocals only get worse from here tbh
But this album slaps, in an embarrassing misogynistic and nostalgic way. A true guilty pleasure

"you sound like a hardcore bfmv fan who has jammed this album a hundred times so it makes sense that you would shit on the most popular songs i guess lol"
Woah, woah, woah. Who said I'm shitting on them? I love those songs except for Tears Don't Fall, which I still think is good. I just think they're the weakest overall in terms of songwriting and everything else.

okay fair but what songwriting are you talking about because when we talk about songwriting in a conventional way its to maximize the appeal of your music through structure and melody. especially when it comes to mainstream music, songwriting is almost always justified by how popular the song ends up being. these three are the most radio run songs from this album, therefore their songwriting was really defined. Even Matthew Tuck said that he knew he had written something great with these back then.

I think for me they just feel a little more immature than the other songs and kind of remind me of the old middle school and early high school angst I had. The bridge and outro of Hit the Floor are excellent - though I'm not as big on the chorus in this song compared to everything else on the album. It's still a no-skip for me. I'm sure my 5 is rooted deeply in nostalgia and this album is 100% a time capsule of what 2006 metalcore sounded like but I still jam it with no issues.

pretty sure one of the songs includes something about hitting a woman or something in a vengeful way. I don't recall anything on this album explicitly degrading women, but people are sensitive af about anything that could be construed in that way lol.
Nothing worse than the average ACDC or Guns n Roses song about women

room 409 and hit the floor are the only actively violent songs afaicr but one sniff of the insecure self-pitying caricature of masculinity on display here (4 words, all these things) should tell anyone with working intuition all they need
bangers here aren't half bad all things considered but

"Hope the vocals will improve"
Dude had a throat surgery in '07 so vocals on Scream Aim Fire feel a bit off / inconsistent, but one can get used to them. Fever contains some of his best performances imo, on later albums his singing is just annoying (fortunately, the last one has significantly less cleans).

Yea, what Johnny said. I am especially talking about Hit the Floor, just read the verses:
I see you walking home alone, your face is alive and bright
But you can't see how weak you are 'cause I could end it tonight
It's the feeling you get when you think that someone behind is watching you
Well I can tell you now, that someone is me and I'm about to make it right
And:
I creep up from behind, touch your neck, move down your spine
You take a look and breathe so sharp
Just a matter of time
Don't scream I ask of you, but then you let one out so now it's time to go
I come down on you like a ton of brick
All over so it's time to go
It's some weird incel shit

We can only hope that this was supposed to show how not to act.
By the way, just found out that these verses come from "Eye Spy", which was released a few years prior to The Poison. Haven't found the lyrics for the chorus tho.

They just released a 20th anniversary vinyl boxset for this album that I bought fast as fuck almost simply for the fact that it includes the Hand of Blood EP.
