To me, "Meddle" sounds like a prelude to "Dark Side". I think it's surprising they recorded "Obscured By Clouds" after this.
Btw, "San Tropez" and "Seamus" might be overall weak tracks but the first 3 songs deserve at least a 4.5 and "Echoes" is an eternal masterpiece. It can't be rated with less than a 5.
So, the 4.5 rating seems right to me.

agreed. it's a solid enough album but in between this and dark side it seems like such a comparatively trite album
