Simultaneously immediate and a grower [2]

Reminds me a lot of new Greyhaven in that regard. New album rules

Its a little too slick but it still sounds good. I was a little disappointed the final track wasnt actually an epic but a song with a hidden track in 2026 of all years. Those are my only real nitpicks.

I'm surprised how, idk, spacey some of this sounds. Good stuff. Wake of Vultures hits

Exact same here. Felt like it petered out when I expected a mind blowing ten minute epic. But then I accepted what it was: two tracks separated by a few minutes of silence (unnecessarily albeit, I get it as a breather, but I think the silence plods too long)

Then I listened again. And it hit me pretty hard. That’s one of those moments/somgs on the album that needs a few listens to grow on you. But it does, at least for me it really did.

Kindof cool tidbit, maybe some of you already know, but this album (TTR) was written in the remnants of a purportedly haunted bar called Ray’s Downtown Blues in West Palm Beach.

I haven’t actually heard this album yet, but maybe that resonates for some re the reflecting content/sound of the album.

I love shit like that. Trent recording The Downward Spiral in the Sharon Tate/Manson murder site house on Cielo Drive. Linkin Park recorded Minutes to Midnight in some infamously haunted house, I believe in the Hollywood hills but I could be wrong. Incubus recording Morning View in a big Malibu mansion overlooking the ocean, likewise with the chili peppers and californication.

Recording studios are so fucking impersonal and lacking in mood and atmosphere. But the records I mentioned all reflect where they recorded, some more (TDSH) than others (M2M), but cool nonetheless.

Feels like Wax Mask is the no brainer best choice for the setlist opener on the new tour. Shit would just fucking rock the venue with such brutal power man, goddamn

We’ll see if they agree. They’ll probably go with a more well known, classic song though.

I work in a drug-alcohol treatment center (a nice ritzy one too so better paying, better clients…but I digress…again…)

Working an overnight tonight. Got here at 11, did a few things, and have been listening to the new album back to back to back etc since 11:30 (I’m in Cali). It’s now 3 am. I can’t stop!

this for sure my second favorite ptw behind december. like a refined versions but with much better production and the more experimental aspects are expertly weaved together into something so unique. really special. was a perfect spot to leave it.

Yeah this one is difficult to get a handle on off first listen. But in a good way, I’m 90% sure. The very definition of a grower. Pample and Antarctica are the two standouts in initial listen. I wasn’t even checking the tracks for a good portion of the second half though, so there were other standout moments as well, just not sure which tracks.

This also feels like their least heavy album, which I’m not saying is a bad thing. It just is what it is. It’s heavy enough. But it’s not trying to be this pummeling record so I’m fine with that.

Haven’t listen to the I/II/III eps/TTR so ed yet, wanted to evaluate the album on its own first, then I’ll run through the sp ed next.

I think that perfectly encapsulates it. Very perceptive take.

Goddamn these motherfuckers blow me away with how talented they are. What a legendary band.

yeah i really dug the direction they went here. basically a post-hardcore album. i love the tone jeff has on his screams here. really raw and higher pitched. a pretty complete change but sounds amazing. best he has ever sounded honestly to me. wonder why this one is so different.

in addition to those larkin two of my favs are cinema and are you anywhere. really think they are the best when going in a longer post-rock structure.
