Through The Never is awsome. Somehow everyone love every other song and hate this one, and I like it the best.

Through the Never is awesome, as is Holier Than Thou and God That Failed

Wherever I May Roam was one of the first "metal" songs I've heard, and the one that got me into Metallica. That solo is epic as fuck, I love it.

It may have been more radio-friendly than their past releases, but this was still pretty damn heavy and energetic. The only downside is a little repetition.

I feel like to many people hate on the black album and say that it is when they went mainstream. I really dont believe it because it has some of their most famous and well known songs like "the unforgiven", "Wherever I may roam", "Sad but true", and others. This is probably my second favorite album. I really wish metallica was still as good as they used to be..

I just saw Metallica in Paris about a month and a half ago, I appreciate this album now more than I used to (they played it in its entirety). Still don't think it's as good as some people make it out to be though, there's a handful of great songs and handful of songs I never plan on listening to again. It was a good performance though... I still think Megadeth is better though m/

Difficult to choose between 3.5 and 4.0 for this album...

3.5, and a low one at that

Mainstream/Not Mainstream arguments aside, this is average at best from an album standpoint. A few great songs, and the rest is filler. Unforgiven, Wherever, Sad But True, Nothing Else Matters, and Don't Tread stand out for me. I'd have Enter Sandman on that list too, if only the world hadn't had it on repeat for the past 20 years.

Yeah, those songs are best, not a big Sad But True fan though
Through the Never and Struggle Within are sooooo average

it made the metallica we know today so in that way it kinda sucks
but in it's own right it's still great.

Album is dope to work out to, except for Nothing Else Matters, then it gets kinda gay rofl

MTV metallica. But hey, it's still better than Load, St. Anger and Re-re. Not better than DMag.
