not awkward, there's just so much more in sections and more beef, the songwriting in Mirrors is more simplified.

the melodies are so much more climactic in this which means they have a greater effect

Haha I listened to this album through and thought it was pretty good. Then I go on here and see it's rated 4.1 XD, I didn't know how popular it was. It seems like such a relief over a lot of metal core out there, and a huge relief from the first album. While there are no singing vocals, finally I find a band that can go with straight screaming and actually keep the music from becoming repetitive. It's a pretty awesome accomplishment in my eyes. The first album is very weak compared to this one; I had no idea the band would be able to stay away from vocals and make the music 100% better. I'll be listening to the next two albums soon :D
