Overly melancholic yes. Boring, at times, yes. Hard to disagree. But I wouldn't call any of the following albums bad. They've become even more accessible and melodic, which might not appeal to all.
I've got some reservations towards the upcoming album though. The latest singles and ep were really disappointing.

I'd argue Winter's Gate is just as good as the first few Insomnium albums. As a whole though I agree, I prefer their 00's output to their 10's output by a pretty good margin.
