Yeah, I feel like contemp indie fans don't have enough exposure to grit to vibe with the vintage shit easily, especially when the noisier end of the spectrum is set by toothpaste like Black Midi or the Voidz

yeah this one chick i went to college with was very cool but not into dino jr, she thought the pixies were a bit too raw lol. like damn you know theyre in commercials? but she was into bright eyes, smiths, that type of thing

this band is probably my biggest conundrum - band fits every descriptor i love in indie, but I can never get into this one (and their latter albums)
n boy, for some reason, i have tried

It's gotta be a glitch in the matrix that this and arctic monkeys are considered the same genre, right?

> i feel like a lot of newer indie fans would hate this cause its actually noisy, heavy, and has a ton of influence leftover from 60s/70s proto punk and garage shit, hardcore, metal like st vitus, bands like zep and sabbath. far cry from like, the decemberists and all that
noisy riff driven indie rock is the best indie rock

Growing up in the UK in the early 2000's will do this to you. When I hear 'Indie' my mind just automatically thinks of Arctic Monkeys, Razorlight, the Kooks etc. wimpy bands (I don't include AM in that, I think they're really good at times) that I might like one/two songs at best.

yeah, it's sucha UK problem - not even necessarily just early 2000s as you've got catfish & the bottlemen, easy life n the such still coming to straight to your mind as you say it. Almost feel like that breed of indie may never die

It’s definitely a problem here in the U.K, especially when you consider that’s the majority of people’s familiarity with the term. I’d struggle to explain what indie outside of those parameters even is (to the masses).

I'm waiting, please come by
I've got the guts now
To meet your eye
Those guts are killing
But I can't stop now
Got to connect with you girl
Before I forget how
Please wanna hang around?
You’ve got to wonder
What it is we found
