"I won't be driving but yeah. I actually feel I'll enjoy this a bit more with the interludes. "
I'm trying to abstain from listening to this again until I hear the digital version with the interludes. I'm guessing it'll feel more complete for some reason. Judging by the actual songs alone is already better than both Undertow and 10,000 Days. Not classic status like both Aenima and Lateralus, but pretty darn close. And Maynard is fine. He was there when needed and didn't overshadow the overall performance.

Yeah this is also my third favorite, I think. Lateralus and Aenima just can't be beat, but I never expected this to.

I agree. It's weird because even though I love 10,000 Days I was just expecting a part 2 of it, but it actually blew me away at first listen. Turned out much, much better than I imagined.

Yeah this is way more consistent than 10,000 Days, which I am thrilled about

Yo mon Vicarious, Jambi, Wings, TT, Rosetta, Right in Two were excellent in my book

Oh yeah, tbh I actually like t/t and Jambi more than anything on the new album ahah (Vicarious also rules)
But as a full album, I think Fear flows way better and there is a lot less empty space/meandering

i gotta hear this with the interludes, nice to see they still got it.

It didn't take them 13 years to write the damn album haha. They actually worked on it for 5 years.
I don't want to rank FI without having heard the segues yet, but I'm feeling like my post Undertow album ranks could be Aenima>Lateralus>FI>10KDays

Descending is awesome!

jeez man i hope that was an attempt at a joke lol
No, I was clearly being serious. Change the tuning of some Korn riffs, add useless and tepid interludes, and we get Vol. 6: The Filler Verses.

"On first listen I enjoyed new Slipknot more actually ahah"
I really enjoyed Slipknot's record, but nooo man, this is wickedly good, especially 7empest.

7empest is definitely the best here, for sure.
After jamming this a couple more times today, I am already starting to like it more. Very curious to see where this will land in a month or so.

@EyesWideShot I slept on Tool for years, and out of nowhere that song (Jambi) clicked when 10,000 Days was released. Rest is history. I feel like Invincible and Descending are very Jambi-like and I'm loving it. Pneuma and Culling Voices reminded me more of Lateralus, which is great too. They really haven't lost it at all.

FI is really good, definitely more solid than 10,000 Days imo. Takes the best of the musicianship of 10,000 and combines it with the songwriting strengths of Aenima and Lateralus really well.

Fear Inoculum allegedly being better than 10, 000 Days according to majority opinion is honestly not something I was expecting, particularly after hearing only the title track and live versions of Descending without lyrics.
Super stoked to hear it all now, but waiting for the full version first.
