This album is indeed perfect, and somehow sounds even better in winter.

This has always been more Summer-y to me. My go/to wintertime NTL album is SLEEP WELL BEAST.

Terrible Love alternate version is so much better than the original

Definitely not summer, and not even winter really; for me it’s the sound of a gray rainy haze. But I could listen to this literally any time regardless.

Oh Colton don’t make me go back in this thread to copy my explanation of why that opinion is deeply flawed

For me personally:
Winter: High Violet
Spring: Alligator
Summer: Boxer
Autumn: Sleep Well Beast
Trouble Will Find Me doesn't really align with a specific season for me.
Also, I agree with Boney that the best National records don't need to conform to a season, they're more of a mood. The above is just my preferences based on personal experiences (and may have a lot to do with the fact that I listened to them a lot during said seasons, thus forming memories etc.)

I didn't say nothing about no bitch ass context I said it's a better song

I always thought (and still think) this album should’ve opened with Sorrow before Terrible Love.

Noooooo not at all, Terrible Love is the perfect opener and the transition from it into Sorrow is mmmmm chef’s kiss

Sorrow is the perfect song but not a perfect opener
|
| |
yeah, Sorrow as an opener would be a striking prelude but imply this album was even more of a colossal downer than it is; would not hold up across repeat listens, i think. works perfectly playing off Terrible Love as it is

wow did you even consider the fact that some of us actually want to remain depressed 24/7 or ????
