Disposition and Reflection are nice indeed, but Triad and particularly Faaip are blegh to me.
Some super addicting tunes here, but Ænima will always be my fave Tool.

"best tool album easy but everything after the t/t bores me to tears"
smae, but not quite to tears it's just very anti-climactic

Triad is awesome! It's the closest song tool will ever make to a party song.

Band has never had a bad album though imo

i prefer aenima. i like the abstract and experimental sounds on it more than the "look how in tune we are with eachother" and timing based stuff on this. both great though yeah

i really really like rythmic tool dont get me wrong but for some reason they got super gased on themselves and just meander a lot when they try to tap into that now. like every song is your typical prog fest of just shoving riffs into it with very little care for song writing. shame cause this album always felt like everything sorta served a purpose in each song. like schism is one of the most impressive rock songs in terms of just timing and a band playing well together and not overstaying its welcome. theres some parts that kinda drag for me like a few stretches in the grudge, ticks and t/t but its like not boring or anything. then 10k days and after they just shove so many instrumental breaks into every song that i dont care for

The only thing that arguably drags for me here is Ticks and Leeches, but The Grudge is perfection imo
And yeah, this is prob like my #1 or 2 album of all time so almost every note here is my shittt
Aenima is like top 10 albums, which is still fucking wild considering how many albums I am viciously obsessed with

@SpaceMan: I definitely see what you mean about the meandering passages, especially when it comes to 10k and FI. I guess the reason I like them on Lateralus is because the band always found a way to use key motifs and melodies to bring them back around in a meaningful way, which is something they couldn't always accomplish in the last two albums. For instance, even though the middle of Ticks and Leeches might be a bit overlong, the whole thing acts as a great buildup to the final stretch of the song.
Then again, the meandering stuff isn't even my least favorite thing about 10K. Rather, I just think the sequencing of that album is atrocious. Don't get me wrong, I do like the album, but still... the Wings and Rosetta suites really needed to be switched around to give the record much better pacing and a more emotional climax
