It's a tad disappointing that after Diamond Eyes they regressed back to the dreamy SNW-like sound. It has to be in Deftones, but it has to be under control.
Leathers has a catchy chorus but they run in into the ground. Tempest is such a phenomenal song though.

I agree the Diamond Eyes is a better album than Koi No Yokan but I generally prefer this dreamy style over their heavier style. I think it suits them a tad bit more.

I mean, sure, being dreamy is their forte, I just think that WP/DE got a better balance between metal and shoegaze. In the end, of course, it's a matter of personal preference.

Yeah, SNW is my favourite album by them so I prefer their more shoegazey cuts. DE is a close second and WP is a close third though. I always though Chino Moreno's vocals are much stronger in the shoegaze tracks which is why I think the shoegaze sound is more for them.

Either way, they're an extremely unique band. You know immediately it's them when you hear it. Probably not a good comparison, but like Tool or System of a Down for example.
