I'm p sure it's best for him in that they had the best time creating it together. He has said that they felt the most freedom and most fun creating atf because there was virtually zero pressure and life was carefree and good for them (they were very young too). With SNW and s/t in comparison some serious shit went down between them.

crazy how people consider other things besides the music as to why it’s their favorite

I mean, ATF is probably their second best album after this, so it's not that far off.

They perform more ATF than WP songs at their shows pretty regularly, not surprising

Shit I've only seen them three times but have seen nearly every ATF song performed at least once

@storm ahaha I think everybody's familiar with that scene. "What?! He's different, he's changed!" Cooler was a beast

Going through these guys' discography this is so far easily my favourite, White Pony had higher highs but this is more consistently great for me at least

Yeah, people tend to ignore how inconsistent WP is.

Having listened to all Deftones albums except Gore, saying ATF is the best is actually very reasonable.
It's start to finish a banger. It has no lows like WP for example.

WP drags a little in the middle but it's still my favourite by them. That atmosphere is something else.

WP is extremely overrated imo, high highs but pretty mediocre stuff too, relative to albums like this and KNY, hell even Ohms

I agree with that take but I sort of like WP as the ultracanonized one for some reason. I'm happy being in the relative minority

WP overrated, yes. KNY stomps it. It's still a good and very important deftones album though.

dont think pony is overrated at all even if its grown off me a bit recently. still has an incredible atmosphere and a lot of their best material on it. pretty consistent too dips a little with some of the heavier songs but those are still solid and fit pretty well within the album/help add variety. nowhere near as overrated as diamond eyes and koi which are both patchy and kinda generic by their standards

In no way shape or form is KNY better than WP lol
