For real, I'm working on something with a world that as gone to shit and Man has become primitive and extremely savage, for the most part I've listened to Blut aus Nord and Deathspell Omega while working but this gave me a lot more inspiration to picture that grittiness I'm trying to put on this project. Will be listening to a lot more Neurosis now

Beat up your wife and children. No better inspiration. Just ask Scott.

C'mon Hawks, think about the other dudes inside the band rofl. Worst case scenario you still got Amenra, who are all clean as of today lol, but I saw you don't really like Amenra, which is crazy if you like Neurosis!
@Shuyin, this album has gnostic vibes all over. I think the lyrics deal with suffering and death in a very gnostic way anyway.

I'd like to follow Hawks around various other threads for a month just to make sure he treats the rest of the pieces of shit within the music industry the same way he talks about Scott Kelly. Seriously, name any band from the 70's and half of those rockstars had relationships with 13 year old girls when they were 30. Doesn't excuse Scott Kelly in any way but there's pieces of crap all over the music industry but we all still hold certain ones in high reverence and deride others.

You're telling me Steven Tyler isn't a role model?

Even though I've been listening to a lot of Neurosis lately, it's hard to overlook the correlation. Unfortunately for me, it will always be there. Not fair to the remaining band members either.

I mean I get having certain revelations affect your enjoyment of something but not others.
For instance, I can't listen to Kanye like ever again. I went from really liking his music to basically being repulsed every time I'd hear a track almost over night (the fact that I'm Jewish and actually care about being Jewish doesn't really help lol).
Same with Daughters, I haven't really bumped them since I read that story.
But Neurosis for whatever reason is something I can still bump - Marilyn Manson is a little weird for me but I can look past it most times.
Theres no real logic to it for me, it's just if I feel gross listening to it or not but I don't really judge people if they can/cannot look past certain things because my own acceptance makes zero sense tbh

Kanye's music sounds like it was made by an egomaniac with a giant chip on his shoulder, Daughters' music sounds like it came straight from the mouth of an exhibitionistic pervert, Manson's entire act is based on him being an edgelord who fell off the brink and started breathing the same filth he was affecting, but Neurosis' music sounds like the product of a force of nature. Don't feel the weight of personality or biography at all in their work, v much get why the Scott Kelly stuff wouldn't put you off their music the same way

Never really thought about it in those terms but that actually makes complete sense now

Not sure about the Daughters situation but I don't really listen to that band much. What happened there?

Also knowing what we know about Jimmy Page, Steven Tyler, John Lennon etc... Do you stop listening to the Beatles after knowing that Lennon was an abusive piece of shit? Or that Jimmy Page and Steven Tyler are literally pedophiles?
