Love my boy Chino but I think his being essentially dipped out of the writing process really helped this album sound as good as it does. The OG instrumentalists Abe, Stef, and Chi seem to have nailed it with this one.

This album doesn't deserve to be this fantastic. Might as well be a compilation cause it jumps from style to style with every track lol but almost every track is just too good. The disconnect between them as a band at this time definitely shows.

what? Chino practically made this album by himself. Every other band member just recorded their parts disjointed from one another and at the end of the day he was the one who actually connected the pieces and produced the final product. This and Gore probably were the two albums where Chino had the most say in things.

Oh for real? Maybe I'm wrong. From what I'd gathered Chino wasn't involved much and "fucked off" to Europe to tour with TS or something and get sober

Wait no it can’t be cause there’s so many stories of him and Bob Ezrin butting heads cause all the other guys were getting in there doing their stuff and chino was just meh doing it and then he even said recently he came in at the end and just threw whatever vocally over top of the stuff and didn’t give it any thought

The chord in “kimdracula” Under “go BLAAAANK tonight” reminds me of the second chord of MBV’s “sometimes”: fucking awesome (that’s the similarity)

I forgot that the ending has that sort of reflexive spontaneous goof off feel, or that it’s introduced that way. Makes me like it a little better. It’s sort of funny. Idk, jury’s still out. I think if PC were like 2 minutes I’d do better with it

Yes, early on he dipped completely but the other band members didn't really get along with each other that well too and basically recorded their parts separately from one another. When he came back he had issues with Ezrin because the two didn't agree on what the album should sound like and he thought that the stuff he had previously recorded with Ezrin was bad but Ezrin was pushing for them to finish the record. So one way or another Ezrin stepped down and Chino (with the help of Shaun Lopez) recorded new parts for many of the songs and basically mixed them and produced the final product on their own.

Also this is a fun fact, but since Abe couldn't give a shit about recording, Chino is actually the one who plays the drums on the Konami Code which is p cool since he has always maintained that he wanted to be a drummer as a kid but sucked.
