Alligator is a lot more colourful and interesting in terms of songwriting imo. A lot of songs on this one are also kinda dry at times (Sorrow) but the expanded instrumentation is definitely enough to make up for it

Yeah Colt I’d say in terms of pure songwriting Boxer has a slight edge on this but the more intricate arrangements here are everything.

Yeah this is all about those arrangements, it’s the sweet spot between understated without being overdone, little embellishments without unnecessary bells and whistles. They got the balance absolutely spot on here and it’s become my preferred incarnation of their sound.
