Since when is it cool to shit on kid A? Seems pretty clear to me that was their magnum opus while this is their most consistent

I don't really follow Radiohead fandom so I'm not sure when it became cool, if it even is or ever was. It's just to me, OK Computer lives up to its rating, while Kid A really doesn't. It's a decent listen the whole way through, but I don't keep any singular songs in my rotation, where I have 2 or 3 from this album, and more from OKC

Kid A is their most atmospheric and complete album as far as I'm concerned, the dramaturgy of that one is really tight. Things like How to Disappear Completely following National Anthem like a depressing calm after a panic attack, or the transition from Optimistic to In Limbo ... and from In Limbo to Idioteque is just HYPE. Idioteque in general is HYPE. Of all Radiohead albums, it's closest to being a journey. That's why I have more distinct favorite songs from this album, but Kid A's atmosphere and overall experience is otherworldly. Shout-outs to the first two songs in particular, they set the stage perfectly with their eerie and beautifully arranged soundscapes.

Kid A just doesn't have the highs of their others for me. This has Jigsaw and Weird Fishes which are both better standalone songs than anything on Kid A. Idioteque is good but I can't shake the feeling of it being a little contrived and inorganic, like it has too much empty space or something. I will admit that Kid A has the best and most consistent atmosphere.

Probably hard for a fanboy to get this but it's actually possible to not like a radiohead album

lol. Amnesiac is grating at times and a moon shaped pool is boring. im not as big of a fanboy as my coke babies avi suggests ha.
Kid A is just their most massive and dynamic outting, at least from my perspective
A lot of the beauty from kid a comes from you not really knowing what is drawing you into the song, a lot of unique sonic stuff

Kid A is unique for Radiohead, but it's really not *that* sonically interesting

I think my Radiohead ranking temporarily changes when the weather gets hot (we hit 90 today in my neck of the woods), what with this becoming my second-favorite to The Bends and then The King of Limbs rounding out my top 3. Such great summer records

This and Is a Woman are pretty much the warmest records you'll ever hear.
