I liked the album quite a bit around release but I'm almost never in the mood to listen to it a year on.

Daydreaming is a top tier RH track, so beautifully depressing.

I love looking at alternate track listings. Especially with all the extra tracks it's fun to mess around with it. Ill Wind + Identikit is cool opening up. Really interesting to see Glass Eyes closing, it definitely feels like a middle-album track to me. The rest is really neat looking though.

Also, does anyone know what a "moon shaped pool" actually is?

i'm not a huge fan of burn the witch opening up this record and ill wind just sounds the best to start it off for me.

and yeah it is kind of a weird ending i suppose, as it's sort of short, mournful and kinda fits thematically in the middle of the record but i like to think of it as a sad ending to an emotionally heavy album. I really like being left with "I feel this love to the core, I feel this love turn cold" and the strings give it a real beautiful and cinematic ending.

I think "A Moon Shaped Pool" is the ocean but idk

How is the ocean shaped like the moon tho

I don't think it's a reference to an existing thing, more just an idea. A pool (liquid) being in the same 'shape' as a moon (solid), which has a totally unpredictable shape because it's just something that broke off something else. My two cents

idk I think a crescent-shaped pool of still water reflecting the stars is some poetic melancholy otherwordly Yorke shit

^that's a good call, might keep it the same just putting that first. true love waits is a good closer.

and as far as the moon shaped pool being the ocean, the gravitational pull of the moon on the ocean "shaping" it. not married to that idea at all though, that's what some people in some radiohead forum were saying. it doesn't particularly tie into the album i don't think.

@polyrhythm
you're right, but when is a moon literally 'shaped' like a crescent? I mean I guess there's some we might not know about but...
