Peak of the genre. Instead of smashing their instruments like irritated children to create metal, Tool realized they can channel the most intense of human nuances directly from the ether - it's not in the notes, but in the tonality, which is as severe as it is suave. Eerily similar to how Steve Reich's methodical compositions hit harder than the works of anxious retards like Mahler or Beethoven.
