You’re right about Bends, but I think the dated sound only adds a nice, nostalgic atmosphere to this record. When I listen to albums like that I feel like I’ve been teleported to 90s, Alice in Chains’ dirt and self titled also make me feel that way

I think the dated sound only adds a nice, nostalgic atmosphere to this record[The Bends].


Even though I prefer all their following full-lengths to PH and The Bends I agree with this. It's got some classic songs for sure, being the first few songs and the ballads. The louder songs are ok but don't do much for me.

this alb isn't as emotionally soaring as their previous work, but once you realize that that just isn't what they were going for with this it starts to make sense as a piece. they were going for cleanest alb OAT and made a valiant attempt
