Unironically, fractional point differences say a lot on this site.

It's not a matter of "team thinking" or of "polarized opinions."
Manson's guilt or innocence is not the core of the problem here.
The core of the problem is people who are convinced he is guilty, coming in this thread and blaming and bullying others for listening to a new album.
I think the word "enablers" was thrown at some point. I really don't feel like going through this thread again to check.

yes the microclimate of this thread is definitely more important than whether or not MM is guilty of sexual assault, deserves to be liable for the legal fees he's been forced to cough up over his apparently bogus defamation countersuit, or should also be remembered for the SA accusations he dealt with out of court
if you want to talk about the just the music without any of these things, maybe pick an album that wasn't transparently written and marketed around his martyr complex in the face of them

@Christbait
"You actually care about a community rating? That's sad bro"
If you don't care about a community rating, why one-ing the album to force the rating as low as you can when you perfectly know it's not a one ?
@FowlKrietzsche
"Mr. Sputnik I DEMAND you address all the libs 1'ing Marilyn Manson. It is cheap and wrong like the 2020 US election, stop the count!"
To be clear, I wasn't honestly asking for the "ones" to be removed because it would just be an infringement of the users right to give the rating they want.
I really enjoyed the comparison with the 2020 elections as it's very legitimate. One-ing an album in order to have the biggest negative impact on the average rating and not according to the album's merit follows the same logic of self-importance as cheating at an election, using an illegitimate method in order to have your voice matter more than the one of others.

@JohnnyoftheWell
I disagree with your point.
And it's even weirder (dare I say funny ?) coming from a staff member.
"yes the microclimate of this thread is definitely more important than whether or not MM is guilty of sexual assault etc...."
Well, I don't know. You're the staff member. Is it in the website's interest to let users harass and shame random users who just want to listen to an album innocently ?
Ah ah ah.
Anyway. This has become to big a deal. I have other things to do, I just checked this comment section to see whether people liked the album or not and which songs were the favorites, I don't care about the rest, I still don't. If he's guilty, I hope the court finds him guilty, but I'm not coming on sputnik to get judiciary piece of advise.

Disagree with my point all you like, it's not going to change the lack of appetite here to consume/discuss this record 'innocently' (whatever that's supposed to mean — very hard to find a charitable interpretation). If users itt want to razz you for putting your kicks above the literal substance of the album, that's their prerogative

"The core of the problem is people who are convinced he is guilty"
convinced??? manson has 16 allegations. 16.
you are morally and intellectually bankrupt if you believe that 16 allegations are somehow all false or exaggerated.

Crashing out for Manson in 2024 is insane

Assuming he’s innocent is naivety at best. From the start it was apparent he’s not a nice guy (to put it very mildly), regardless of how clever and/or good of a manipulator/shock artist he was. The history of rock is full of such assholes, some get caught, some don’t.

Went on a long walk and saw some deer today, a nice way to round off the weekend

I see a lot of Elk and Pronghorn on my job, its always a day maker

Very nice, it was a roe deer on this occasion. Most notable wildlife I get at my work is the odd red kite.

Had someone at work trying to Shazam a song by Collapsed Lung (the 90s UK rap-rock band that is most famous for Eat My Goal) but their music ain't on streaming sites so it wasn't working.
|

Streaming services are such bullshit, they promise millions of songs but then you have to take into account all those just being the back catalogue of all the big labels bands while never having anything niche or lesser known.
