The singles didn't blow my mind but I'm hoping the actual album can at least get me to half mast.

Otherness is absolutely better than OC/YC (not that that's hard to do). Reverse the curse is the only song that sounds like pre-OC/YC AOF tbh. Sans soleil is just awful imo, cant believe they released it as a single. Also gonna echo what I read a few pages back, it sucks that they lost their punk/core influence.

Meshuggah is way older and they've just been refining their sound and have yet to drop a bad album lol these dudes have no excuse

I'm surprised by how much love Otherness is getting on here. I don't know what everyone else is hearing but it's nowhere close to any of the first 3 releases. I have to agree that age isn't really an excuse to put out lackluster work. These guys have tons of great songs that aren't heavy so it's not like they have the "we just can't scream like that all the time" excuse.

i mean if yall dont enjoy it i cant help you but i def dont hear it as lackluster buttrock lmao. it is fully in line w what ive always liked about their softer stuff

i can see why ppl are missing the older faster influence but ive never needed that to enjoy their shit and kinda prefer that they arent tryna force it now since whenever they did try and force it it yielded their weakest material (ocyc/complicit)

I'm not pretending it's a great album but good one I guess. Otherness is Dodge Ram commercial music.
