being a fan of stuff you like is pretty sweet yeah
"2024 is halfway over and charts still links to 2022"
lol, yeah I didn't realise until I double-checked this (just now). I'm guessing the issues with the site may have something to do with this. It's easy enough to change the year (or use RYM for charts, lol)

@evilford Meshuggah has cool ideas, poor execution. Just an extremely robotic sound that doesn’t complement the music

@jurtz nope it’s an objective fact. Meshuggah being mediocre is one of the Ten Commandments in the Bible

Finally overcoming my trolling and bumping this, yeah this rules. The drumming in particularly is incredibly engaging, it never feels like the long sections drag either because of them; there's always a cool fill or rhythm to hone in on. I def need to revisit the last few Ulcerate albums, but first impressions are that this is my fav since Destroyers

Pros and cons are simple: bookends are incredible and Transfiguration is an excellent choice for the centerpiece, the other tracks run a little too similar to each other at times (that or I need more time to dissect them). Exhausting listen, per Ulcerate's reputation, but this is far and away the least exhausted I've been after an Ulcerate album, there's a lot of melody here.
Bumping to a 4 but yeah this def has 4.5 energy, spectacular stuff

Yeah it might not be as good as Stare, Shrines and Def not EIF, but it has potential to be 4th, maybe even 3rd.
