Jay welcome to the enlightened 5 club. This album legit takes a few listens to digest, I’d say because it’s so dense (in a good way)

I think a lotta people resent WIITB cuz it kneecapped the success of this album, even tho that was completely unforeseen at the time

Yeah it's got too much undeserved slander in this thread. It's fucking great album, even if it's way more simplistic than what's going on here. I was super unsure about this when I first listened to it because the production was wildly different than WIITB. I must have listened to the 30 second previews on iTunes for months before finally saying fuck it and just buying the album. Definitely ahead of its time and it'd probably be much better received if it came out within the last ten years. I was reading little snippets of the album reviews on Wikipedia earlier today and it's almost comical how hated this was by some critics.

i mean more power to the wiitb fans and its not like bad or anything it just isnt really anything special imo. just a standard pop punky phxc album with decent hooks thats always felt a lil disposable and very samey to me outside of the two daryl songs and ender

Any takes on the 2008 Finch EP? I listened to it today and it's better than I remembered. Certainly nowhere near as experimental as this but it stands on its own in their discography.

I like Chinese Organ Thieves a lot, along with hail to the fire and Phantasma. They have some other really solid demos (that sound great production wise)

Sounds cheesy but I’m kinda over the “ugh if they’d only stayed together and made more albums” phase of fandom. This is a classic and I’m fr thankful that I randomly bought this cd in a Walmart circa 2005

That said, from the WIITB era- I highly recommend Worms of the Earth. The live rendition on streaming platforms fucking rules. Nate is an animal

"Any takes on the 2008 Finch EP?"
Pretty solid. Daylight and Chinese Organ Thieves are both incredible. Love how the outro of Organ Thieves feels like their weirder side fighting to get out lol

Nate's vocal warmups in Dreams of Psilocybin crack me up every time lol. What a weird closer in general, cool song to end the album.
