Can't tell what's worse, Tilian being back in the band or all of his unwashed cultist stans parading like buffoons celebrating his return. The statements both parties gave were also weak af. Big mistake to let him back in.

The band's been shit for close to a decade now, they really could have used this as an excuse to call it quits and make some real music for once.

idk i quickly skimmed the tilian statement post on r/dgd and it seemed pretty overwhelmingly skeptical/negative. i avoid that sub like the plague otherwise.

I hope this cements the well-deserved decline for the band. Their brand is permafucked.



Truth be told I had a lot of love for these guys. I really did. Loved the albums up until 2-3 Tillian releases. Mostly I loved anything on Blue Swan.



I'm pissed because I'm a guy who latches onto my principles pretty sturdily. I cannot separate art from artist when the Art is so intrinsically OF the Artist.



So this was the final nail in the coffin. I'm mad because I'm not sure I can ever listen to DGD again or anything on the Blue Swan label, knowing the whole band wants him back and are making excuses along with him. If I really didn't care about the band this wouldn't hurt so much.



But here I am slinging ad-hominems at talented musicians.



I've done cruel shit in my life. I've said even more cruel things. And I know what substance abuse feels like. I get it. I have a level of empathy for anyone making awful decisions like him because it's often indicative of a struggle, or of internal suffering. And drugs make people make worse decisions than they would have otherwise. But that doesn't erase culpability.



A true apology from Tilian would indicate he's done with the band forever.



An adult reaction from the band would be to understand how this can shape fans' perceptions of the band forever, even if there' muddiness or grey area to what allegedly took place, and to say concretely that Tillian can not continue with the band moving forward because of that. Everything comes to and end, and this would have been THE moment to respectfully dismantle the project and move on.

But they chose to wait a few months and them minimize it. Gross.

buh-bye DGD. It's going to be really hard to not sling cruelly-crafted personal insults at the band over social media. I got some really crushing ones spring-loaded. Spoiler alert. They're about Tim. Anyone want to help me throw Tillian off the wagon again?
