I haven't listened to this album yet and even I'm surprised it missed the staff list - I thought for sure it would make the cut on the back of the hype from Row n' Sow

Only on my second listen. There is probably too much album here, I feel like the music / listener experience sometimes suffers due to the sheer amount of time required to get all the lyrics out, could be alot snappier. There is something to be said for how gloriously uncompromising this is though. Hopefully it'll get more comprehensible with more listens.

there´s 90% of music out there that´s in yo face and has zero sublety, let these few gems that need you to delve through with multiple listens, readings and stuff, to be a thing lol

I don't disagree, though just because most records aren't overlong and obtuse doesn't shield this record from critique for being overlong and obtuse.

i feel like most records that are overlong and obtuse don't have this good of a payoff for buying in though

Agreed. I can't remember the last time a record kept my attention and didn't disappoint after a 1.5hr + run time. The ending wouldn't be as powerful without the amount of lead up either.

Asleep def right though, unless you are extremely into this specific blend of post rock / Emo, it’s really difficult to pay attention to the entire length of the album. Not saying they should’ve cut anything but it’s hard to adore this album if you’re not fully into the blend of genres they are incorporating. Like, I love a ton of moments on here but I am really unable to pick out the “best” tracks and listen to them on their own so the replay value here is basically all or nothing and 1.5hrs is a lottttt

problem is, for every minute of brilliance on here you get like seven minutes of lifeless, middling filler
