Hull’s vocals hold this together, if anything.

I need to listen to this, never really tried to get into them but they did stripped down versions on this week's Comedy Bang Bang and I dug it.
|
| |
All I need from the last album were Lead, ND & Alien. All I need from this one are Angel of Death and Keel Timing.

Way Back takes me closer to heaven each time I listen to it, such a beautiful song.

The outro to The Internet is so good

First listen it doesn't make as much of an immediate impression as Black Mile did, that being said "Dinosaur" bangs.

pretty sure I haven't heard an album in full by this band. never really got the hype but usually in these cases I'm just being ignorant and end up liking the artist much more than I thought I would..
which one should I start with?

Mean Everything to Nothing and A Black Mile to the Surface are their two unanimous "classics" so you probably can't go wrong with either of those. Although you should know that they sound like totally different bands earlier in their career vs. now.

“Dinosaur” seems like the most disposable track here by a mile for me, the first 7 flow together wonderfully, the closing duo reinforces itself well, and “Obstacle” is an album highlight. Not sure I have a fave yet but it’s real consistent across the board

The climax of Dinosaur is worthwhile but I do wish it went on longer and felt less like a token "heavy moment". It was top 3 on the album for me at first but has sunken a bit in my rankings.

I’m struggling to find many low points here. Let It Storm was the only obvious track of lesser quality for me but it’s still not a bad song.

Definitely. I said it earlier itt but it's worth repeating: this is one of those records with no massive 5/5 tracks and no poor songs either. Everything is sort of a 4/5 but together it makes for a perfect experience.

@Sowing I love that Inaudible and Angel of Death have grown on you.

Keel Timing should probably be higher too. I definitely like it better than Dinosaur now. Gonna edit that.

Also take my ranking with a grain of salt because like I said a few posts up the album is very consistent. Splitting hairs between a lot of 3.9's and 4.1's here.

I love Let it Storm... lyrical themes are definitely quite overt but the instrumentation is beautiful, in my opinion

cheers Sowing, I think I'll start with their earlier stuff to see how their sound changed over time

Honestly Keel Timing is probably the worst and most generic MO song I’ve heard everything else is pretty good

Yeah Keel Timing and Dinosaur are the biggest letdowns thus far.
