Taylor Swift released my favourite albums of the year last year. I also kinda enjoyed Selena Gomez previous album (haven't heard this year's). But otherwise mainstream pop is slim pickings for me. Don't vibe with Rina or Charli at all.

That's one of the bravest admissions I have ever seen.

If the staff list can get away with putting Charli or Kacey at #1, I sure as hell can put Taylor there.

Hey it's not a problem

I’d rather put Taylor there than Lana, that’s for fucking sure

NFR is better than pretty much any Taylor album, but Lana's worst is definitely worse than Taylor's worst

Evermore was even better than Folklore imo

Understandable. Tbh I found folklore dull at first. My wife's a big Taylor fan so she kept spinning it and eventually every song clicked. Without her persistence I probably would have moved on.
I actually love every song from the folklore/evermore sessions except perhaps Willow.

It's all very uniform, tasteful and well-produced but it still feels a bit hollow.

There's a dramatic quality to her vocal delivery that I really enjoy. Reminds me of the theatrical qualities of Davey Havok from AFI although obviously expressed in a very different way. And I think she's just genuinely a fantastic lyricist. So many of her songs in those two albums paint stories that I can really visualise. She gets just the right level of detail to make them feel real while keeping them broad enough to have wide relatability. That's really hard to achieve and nothing else I heard in 2020 matched it.

as much as I didn't appreciate this album at all, I feel bad about it not getting more than just these 3 scathing reviews.
edit: to clarify, not that I think it needs to get roasted MORE, just that it certainly sits poorly and oddly that it only got a half-week of discussion and then everyone simply forgot about it like... instantly.
