If there wasnt so much weird shit in between the good songs itd be a classic.

As it stands I have to skip the filler to get to the good songs. And how good those songs are.

Luckily even if you subtract the filler, the 7 or so actual songs on the album are lengthy enough to make for 50-55 minutes of superb music, and that’s still pretty good considering a majority of albums don’t exceed this to begin with.

The writing on the cover art has seriously got to be Turkish or Saudi Arabian

Speaking of the cover, or rather, the slip case, I think the fingerprint smudges are part of the plan. its awesome.

I've never heard a Tool album. Not sure if I should check out Lateralus first or Aenima.

Lateralus is probably safer if you are a Tool newbie. Its a good bridge between Aenima and 10000 Days if you liked Lateralus too. Aenima has a slightly different sound - and its a bit 'raw-er'.

Aenima and 10000 Days were mor accesible, but I guess it is just a matter of opinion.

hah, I thought Aenima was the LEAST accessible of the 3 - tons of filler on it too. But thought Lateralus was the best 'first' one since it combines Aenima and 10000 Days really well. Listening to those 2 without Lateralus is very very different from each other.

Nor I. You might like their older stuff though, which is less proggy and more straightforward.

Listen to it some more - it WILL eventually grow on you.

I took me absolutely ages for me to get into both this and Blackwater Park (Opeth), but both albums are well worth persisting with.

"The Grudge" & "Ticks & Leeches" are my favorites on this superb album.

This really didnt take that long for me. BWP definitely did though.

And yeah The Grudge is pretty close to my favorite song here

Weird. I loved BWP the first listen. It remains my favorite album ever.
